Upon Graduation from LSU School of Dentistry in 1996 with his DDS, Dr. Keys worked as an associate dentist in Shreveport, La until opening his private practice in 1999, across the river in Bossier City, where he grew up. During his early years of practice Dr. Keys was a very active member of the Ark-La-Tex Academy of General Dentistry where he was introduced to many of today’s leaders in Continuing Dental Education. His involvement in the Ark-La-Tex Academy of General Dentistry was the beginning of a life long journey in Dental Continuing Education. To date, Dr. Keys has completed over 3000 hours of continuing education in the disciplines of Cosmetic Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Dentistry, Surgical Placement and Restoration of Dental Implants, Guided Bone Regeneration Procedures (Socket Preservation and Ridge Augmentation Bone Grafting), Occlusion (Bite Relationships) and TMJ Therapies as well as many hours devoted to Practice and Business Management. Dr. Keys has studied under many of Dentistry’s leading clinicians including, Frank Spear, John Kois, Michael Schuster, Ken Hebel, John Nosti and Clinical Mastery Series, as well as many others.
Dr. Keys served as an Advisory Board Member for River Cities Study Club, a Seattle Study Club, from 2004-2010. He was A Spear Study Club Leader from 2010-2012 and is the former SME (subject matter expert / faculty member) of the PDS Institute, where he taught Continuing Education course around the United States in the disciplines of A-Traumatic Extraction and Socket / Ridge Augmentation Grafting Techniques for the General Dentist and Comprehensive Esthetically Driven Treatment Planning Through Co-Diagnosis and was named Faculty Member of the Year in 2016.
He is an active member of the AGD (Academy of General Dentistry) and Former Member of the AO (Academy of Osseointegration), ICOI (International Congress of Oral Implantology), LDA (Louisiana Dental Association) and TDA (Texas Dental Association).
He is the President/Owner of Hunt And Learn Outdoors (HALO) A Dental Continuing Education company that combines big game hunting and dental continuing education. (www.huntandlearnoutdoors.com)
He is also the past President/Owner of OTS Implant Solutions. OTS Implant Solutions partners with major dental implant manufacturers and suppliers to provide hands on dental implant education as well as Live Patient In-Office Surgical training for dentists who want to add dental implants to their practices as a service for their patients.
Dr. Keys is an avid bow hunter and competitive archer and his love and passion for the outdoors led him to move his practice to the Texas Hill Country in New Braunfels, TX in 2012 and is now living his lifelong dream of private practice in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. He established Colorado Dental Co in November, 2020 with offices in Idaho Springs and Winter Park to serve the residents of Clear Creek and Grand Counties.
Over his 27 years of practicing dentistry, Dr Keys has owned multiple dental practices in Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas currently holds active dental licenses in LA, TX and CO as well as previously in OK.
In addition to maintaining 2 private practices and his teaching opportunities, Dr Keys enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors skiing and hunting, playing golf and sending time with his family. He is married to his wife Jennifer (Jay), who serves along side him in their Idaho Springs and Winter Park practices, and is the proud father of 3 daughters Kinley (19), Avri (17) and Braelyn (10) and Jay’s son Ragan (24).
